I am hosting a teenager convention reflecting on several issues teens go through on a day to day bases. The theme is “Be a Hero” so I thought I could take the four topics being discussed (Peer Pressure, Violence, Drugs, and Sex) and give a hero to reflect on. What I mean is like Superman- Peer Pressure (being able to overcome anything) Violence -Hulk (When you let things people say bother you it results in violence) Drugs – Batman (fighting street problems and addictions) Sex- Spiderman(Uses safety) Now do you guys have any better ideas?

I Quit Smoking, Binge Drinking and Panic Attacks with Shokat. Hypnosis, Laser, Bioesonance.

Angela Karatza Interview in English and Greek. Angela talks about her attempts at overcoming her smoking addiction. She not only quit smoking with us but also overcame her binge drinking problem and surmounted her panic attacks. This is her fathers experience of quitting smoking: Having failed with the NHS (patches, gum, Zyban and Champix) I decided to try hypnotherapy and failed five times over the last five years. I came to see LifePrinciples in utter desperation but I did not believe they could help me. I went from 80-100 cigarettes to zero after the first session. However, I suffered vertigo for four days and almost had a car accident so I had one cigarette during the first day and four cigarettes the next day. Shokat got me back in and explained that with some people this is normal as so much oxygen is going through their brain that they have this feeling of being high for a number of days but soon settle down after about a week or two. Once I know what to expect Shokat repeated the session and I quit smoking instantly. Its Monday 27th August 2007 and I have not touched a cigarette for over 23 days. I can’t remember being without a cigarette for that long in my entire life. I am delighted that the impossible has now become possible and I can now look forward to a life without cigarettes. I now want Shokat to help my wife lose weight and my daughter to quit smoking and binge drinking. His wife Georgina Sant-Jones is now on our weight-loss programme and is doing really

Question inspired by Emma’s – http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Avo5TJ6NSuiBwi9qiaaPZuCtDH1G;_ylv=3?qid=20100108214820AAFC8al

Those who answered as being clean individuals, distancing themselves from peer pressure of drugs and whatnot get a lot of thumbs downs and are ridiculed for ‘supposedly’ having something wrong with them for not wanting drugs, alcohol and peer pressure run their lives.

Why is this? I just want to hear an opinion from someone full force over trying to act like those things aren’t bad for you. Why do you feel the need to defend that so badly? Are drugs really that important? Why aren’t you strong enough to live without them?

Teens and adults glorifying the idea of doing those things get praised for it. Really? Is my generation (I’m 16) honestly this deplorable?
Michelle – Yes, I did look at all of the answers and I either TD or TU them, ALL OF THEM.

I’m not telling anyone how to live their life. I’m asking why those things are so important to them, because THE MAJORITY of people who glorified those horrible things were given more thumbs ups. And probably the only thumbs downs they got were from me.

And no thanks. I like to be in control of my life, I favour that much better.
Tara – It means absolutely nothing to me if you drink/smoke, you’re screwing up your life, not me. I’m just asking for an educated debate. And so far… no one has given that to me.
I love how everyone that does those things can sit there and b*tch me out for being ‘judgemental’ yet can’t support their decisions, or defend themselves. lol.

Who here believes in the war on drugs?

Why?

I’m assuming when this happened it just made everything worse. If you take something away and make it “Forbidden” then that just raises the value on something and makes people want it more. Kind of makes it a quest and more of an adventure to find with maybe excitement of doing something “Wrong” and taboo…. anyway you get what I’m saying?

Opinions?

who would be more likely to be persuaded by peer pressures such as drinking, drug use, skipping class?

2010 September 7

Scenario:
John is an 18-year-old freshman at New York University. John was the starting quarterback at his high school in a small town in Indiana. He enjoys playing sports and hanging out with friends. John has always been popular and done well in school and sports. Once he is comfortable in his surroundings he can be confident in what he is doing.

Donnie is an 18-year-old freshman from Chicago attending Iowa State. Donnie spends most of his time playing his guitar and writing music. In high school he had a few close friends but his attention was mainly focused on his studies and his music. He has little trouble expressing himself and enjoys doing so on stage while playing in his band. Donnie is determined to earn a degree and find a career in playing, writing, or producing music.

Reference the factors that influence persuasion and conformity.
